B
USING SCOOTY
1
What do I Need to use Scooty after my registration has been validated by the Scooty team?

All you need to do is download our mobile application for iPhone or Android (the “App”).

After logging in, you can use the App to trace one of our Scootys, reserve a Scooty and start a Scooty. Make sure that you have your valid driver’s license with you and follow the instructions on the App.

2
How much does it cost to take a ride with Scooty?

Scooty works with a “pay-per-ride” model, where you only pay if you actually use a Scooty.

The price is 0,25 EUR per minute.

You can also temporarily pause or park a Scooty. During the time a ride with an activated Scooty is paused, you will pay 0,05 EUR per minute (e.g. 1,5 EUR for 30 minutes).

3
How does Scooty work exactly?

Everything you need to know on how to use a Scooty is provided in the App, which works very intuitively.

In general you will need to take the following steps before starting a ride with a Scooty:

  1. Login
  2. Find a Scooty (on the map or via the menu button in the right hand corner).
  3. Reserve a Scooty by clicking on the “Reserve Now” button – the Scooty will be reserved for 15min. During these 15-minutes, you are not charged for the reservation. If you do not activate the Scooty within these 15-minutes, your reservation will be cancelled without charge.
  4. Unlock the Scooty by clicking on the “Unlock Scooty” button – you will now have access to the Topcase and choose one of the two helmets (sizes small and large) that are stored in the Topcase on the back of the Scooty.
  5. Inspect the state of the Scooty and make sure you have your driver’s license with you.
  6. Report possible new damages to the Scooty that are not yet on the list by contacting the Scooty Team on the number located on the Scooty.
  7. Read the warning message and then Start your ride! Your ride will begin as soon as you have clicked on the “Ok, start ride” button.
  8. To pause or park the Scooty, simply click on “pause”. To restart your ride, click on “unlock” and the Scooty will be active again.
  9. To end the ride, simply click on “end ride”. Make sure that you are in of our Business Areas when doing so (see Section C, Q3)The price will be automatically charged to your credit card after you end your ride.

For a more detailed explanation about the use of the Scooty service, please consult the information provided via the following link: How It Works.

4
Do I need to bring my own helmet?

Each Scooty will be equipped with two helmets each of a different size (small and large). They can be found in the Topcase, which you can access after unlocking the scooter and pushing on the red button on the back of the Topcase.

The Topcase will also have hygiene caps that you can put over your head before putting on a helmet.

If you have your own helmet, you are of course free to use it ?

5
What about insurance?

All Users are fully insured for basic civil responsibility claims and additional legal assistance is included. However, you are liable for the first 500 EUR of damages that you incurred.

A User is responsible for the entire amount of any damage caused to Scooty’s property during the entire time a User is responsible for a Scooty if such damage is determined to be the fault of User or not otherwise attributed to a third party.

The User must obtain a police report on the accident or event that causes the damages in order to benefit from Scooty’s liability coverage.

In addition, certain penalties are due in case of loss of Scooty’s property (for more information of the different penalties, see Section B, Q10).

For more questions about insurance and liability while using the Scooty service, please consult out Terms and Condititons.

6

The Scootys can be driven anywhere within the Brussels Capital Region or the City of Antwerp. You can also temporarily pause or park every Scooty and continue afterwards. That way you can use Scooty for example to go to a business lunch, a meeting, go to the drycleaner or go play a tennis match.

However you will need to return the Scooty to one of the Business Areas that are indicated on the map in the App with a red line.

7
Can I temporarily pause or park a Scooty?

Yes you can! Hit the “Pause” button on the App after you have started a ride to temporarily interrupt you ride. You can pause a Scooty anywhere in the Brussels Capital Region or the City of Antwerp. You do not need to be located in one of the Business Areas. This way you can use Scooty for example to go to a business lunch, a meeting, go to the drycleaner or go play a tennis match.

Pausing a Scooty will only cost 5 eurocents per minute.

8
Where can I end a Scooty ride?

During our Beta-phase (see Section C) you will have to return the Scooty to one of the Business Areas.

It is perfectly possible to drive outside these areas and to temporarily pause a Scooty outside them as well (see Section B, Q6). We will expand our fleet and the Business Areas during our Beta-phase and provide full city cover in Brussels and Antwerp as soon as possible.

We will also organize so called “pop-up” Business Areas, where we will create Business Areas near events. This will make it possible to travel to the event with Scooty!

Can I carry a passenger or let my friends ride the Scooty?
