New bar in the heart of Saint-Gilles run by a Brussels young woman with a passion for coffee. Having worked as a Barista in different parts of the world, and after having piled up a good deal of experience in the hospitality and entrepreneurship, Perrine launched her crowdfunding campaign. Not even two months after having raised the necessary funds, she opened her own establishment in the “bobo” heart of Brussels.
From jackets in levis jeans, velvet bow ties, bell bottoms and roaring twenties dresses, Épisode is THE op-shop in town. All clothes are collected by charity. Each piece is then washed, repaired if necessary or transformed into a new piece of clothing before landing in the shelves. The store is located rue de la violette, near the Grand Place.
What’s the formula? Burger and Gin. Located near the Grand Sablon, Seventy-five organizes a “blind test” every Wednesday. This blind test is a music quiz (80s, 90s, 2000s, … there is something for everyone!). If the quiz is not your thing, you can always go there on a Sunday to enjoy a brunch or on Fridays (once a month) to enjoy a karaoke night. Seventy-five is undoubtedly the ideal place for meet ups with friends!
The Jam is the perfect place to spend your weekend. Vinyasa yoga classes, brunch, design markets, Pool Parties in summer, … In addition, children are welcome! A games room, skateboards and scooters are available so we can go for a walk in the city with the family. The rooftop overlooks the roofs of the Brussels houses. A wellness area will be installed by the spring of 2019!
The Abbey of La Cambre is more than just a park or it is good to walk. It is a historic-religious place with a history that begins in the 13th century. Today, La Cambre brewery is the most popular attraction because it opened the doors to the public. The brewery offers 3 beers from the abbey, among the lightest beers of Belgian abbeys. The beer is brewed with pure water from the source of Maelbeek, in the heart of the city. In summer, the bar “Gisèle” organizes afternoons concert, petanque competitions and other festivities style “aperitifs” to enjoy with friends. The Barn is a project that was initiated by 2 young entrepreneurs in May 2017. 95% of their products are sold in bulk. Their mission: Stop throwing food by buying the right thing and reuse the packaging we already have in our possession. The Barn is a friendly and peaceful place, entirely designed with recycling equipment. Good to know: it’s open on Sundays!
The most trendy place of the moment? The Quai des Péniches, of course! “Made in Belgium” and eco-friendly, the former Citroën garage on the banks of the Brussels-Charleroi Kanal has been a hit since it opened last spring. There are design expo, a Street Food machine, occasional Techno nights, …
The flea market of the Place du Jeu de Balle was originally intended to serve as a playground for players “ball pelota”, a game popular in Brussels in the nineteenth century. Today is the most famous flea market in Brussels.
